HOBI Awards
On Tuesday,
November 15, 2011, the
Home Builders Association of
Connecticut held its
18th annual HOBI Awards dinner at the Aqua Turf in
Southington. Produced and chaired by Joanne Carroll of
JMC
Resources, the HOBI Awards is the state’s most prestigious
housing industry program, recognizing excellence in new
construction, land development, remodeling, sales and
marketing, and home financing. Winners are selected by a panel
of
HOBI judges with expertise in various aspects of home
building. The judges review applications submitted by HBA
members, and travel the state for several days, touring
selected homes and communities.
"As we near the end of the sixth year of the ‘Great Recession’,
it is a tribute to the spirit and resilience of this industry
that 560 attended the
HOBI Awards dinner," said HBA of Connecticut President, Liz Verna.
“Builders are overcoming the lack of A,D &C financing, and finding ways to build and sell spec homes! Bob Sprouls & Darren Andreoli are adept at finding infill lots near the water. This summer, they sold a $4 million spec in Westport at rough inspection. Marc & Rob Michaud sold their 5BR spec in Stratford just 3 days after it went on the market. In Hartford County, Poirier Homes,- Connie & David Gordon, sold their $1.5 million Avon spec to a Wall Street trader who will work from his home office. And in the affordable market, T&M Building Company sold 2 homes at Cromwell Woods on Nov. 5th opening day.”
